What you see - Dance World is a dance school in Chandigarh, located on the second floor in Sector 17E. The stairs that lead you to the school are narrow and steep so climbing up may prove to be a warm-up exercise before the dance practices begin. Inside, there’s a small reception leading to a small hall that has a mirror-covered wall. That adds some volume to the otherwise small red-carpeted hall. The place is well lit and the music is foot-tapping.
What you get - Dance World conducts western dance classes including Hip-hop, Jazz, Popping and Locking, Contemporary, Salsa and other Latin forms of dance. Bhangra is also taught.
Dance World has no restrictions when it comes to age. The school in Chandigarh welcomes people of any age group. It’s only the batches that are defined based on the age group. Otherwise, Dance World has people from four to 65 years of age.
Beginners are enrolled at the Elementary level meant for people who want to start dancing. Here, they teach simple steps of various dance forms. If you are already a performer at school or college level, they enroll you at the Intermediate level. The final is the Advanced level where you are trained to be a professional.
Dance World operates five days a week from Monday to Friday. They charge Rs. 1,500 for one month. However, if you go for the six months course under which they promise to teach all forms of dance it costs Rs. 7,200. They also conduct workshops and classes in institutions or colleges. All major credit cards are accepted.
Our verdict - Dance World in Chandigarh offers a good package when it comes to learning dance. The centre is easily accessible and is centrally located. The choreographers are well trained and know their work. The ambiance is fine but can definitely be improved. Space is a constraint inside. Parking space is available.
