Chinese food at Dragon | Chandigarh

What you see - Dragon, in Sector 15-D of Chandigarh is a restaurant that seems perennially full. Possibly because Sector 15 has a large number of Paying Guest and one room accommodations for students and professionals. The banner board gives the restaurant its Chinese identity. The green counter by the side of Dragon’s main door also belongs to them where you can order food for packing or just have a hot soup in Chandigarh’s chilly winters. Inside, you will find green painted walls and a few benches and tables arranged neatly. One table can accommodate about six people.

What you get - As the name suggests, Dragon is a Chinese restaurant. It serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The dim lights and a mild aroma of noodles (the kitchen is next door) leave you hungrier.  A small TV plays music or movies.

Their menu is a treat. Dragon is a great place to have Chinese food and their non-vegetarian preparations are a delight. Apart from chicken, you will find prawns and fish on their menu. The soups especially Manchow is un-missable.  They also have a lot of fast food options ranging from burgers to pizzas. Our recommended dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner include omelets, noodles and chopsuey and chilli chicken respectively. You can also try eating with chopsticks here. Nobody would bother even if you don’t know how to use them well. As far as the taste is concerned, the food is less spicy than an average Chinese meal around town.

To beat the heat, they also serve shakes and juices. You can also get your dinner packed from here.

Our verdict - Dragon has been around since 1974 and its reputation has been getting stronger by the day, thanks to its great location, above average food and affordability. Besides, though there aren’t a lot of waiters here, there is no delay in service. However, if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant, avoid this place. The ambience and interiors are just basic. As Sector 15 is known to get busier in the evenings, you may not be able to find parking just outside the restaurant but you will surely find it nearby. For dessert, try Talwar’s Dairy close by.

What you pay for a meal for two – Rs. 500-800
