What you see – The Art of Living center located in Sector 35-C Chandigarh is a peaceful and calm meditation centre with one big hall in white that can accommodate about 200 people. The interiors of the center have been done up in light shades so as to enhance the tranquil atmosphere. There’s a reception which handles queries and registrations.
What you get – The Art of Living course has been initiated and propagated by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to help people understand the true essence of life. The Chandigarh center is administered by V K Sood and several Art of Living programs are hosted here. The basic self development and stress elimination programs include the ‘Sudarshan Kriya’. This is a breathing technique that works around mental, emotional and physical sustenance. All the courses are targeted towards understanding life better and leading it the happy and peaceful way by breathing right, smiling, being positive and seeing the goodness in life and people. Art of Living is also into social work.
Apart from Sudarshan Kriya, the programs include yoga and meditation, Pranayama, discussions, self-analysis and self-development. Two batches of these programs are conducted every day from 6 AM to 12 PM. One single session takes three hours to finish.
At times, after 4 PM, satsang is also held. This includes hymns, chants and other spiritual songs. to enjoy music from deep inside their hearts. The fee structure varies between the type or course and whether you are a first timer or not. On weekends, a stall is arranged where Art of Living books, CDs, tea packets and more are sold.
Our verdict – The center in Chandigarh is well maintained and offers a soothing environment for meditating. The trainers and volunteers are helpful. Programs are also available for kids and teenagers.
Paid parking space is available for the people.
