What you see - Planet Fitness, located in Sector 8 of Chandigarh attracts a good crowd. The gym is done up in nice colors and you would find the latest beats or some peppy music inviting you to the regimen. Though they have different sections for men and women, there is a general section too, where both men and women can exercise.
What you get - One can join the gym for three, six or 12 months. There are usually four trainers available anytime while at the busy hours in the morning and evening, the number goes up to seven. Thus, personal attention is promised and delivered. The gym offers services like calisthenics, aerobics, strength training, free weights, power yoga, kickboxing and personalized coaching under trained and experienced trainers.
Planet Fitness usually has four batches in the evenings and three in the mornings but these are flexible again. The membership costs Rs. 6,000 for a quarter, Rs. 10,000 for a half-year and Rs. 30,000 for a full year. If you join as a couple, you would have to shell out less. The gym is nice and clean. Lockers aren’t available though.
Planet Fitness also offers services like spa, health club and dance. Dieticians and nutritionists are also available. The professionally trained instructors help you get 100 per cent results from your work out while a juice bar and a health food café offers you nutritional food in varieties. Usually good music is played on to pep up the workout. Sauna and hot shower facilities are available to relax you after the workout. It is a unisex gym and timings can be fixed as per the different batches available for both men and women.
Our verdict – What’s good about this place is that it has gym, sauna, spa, yoga etc all under one roof. Trainers are its USP. In fact, the trainers can also be asked to personalize the fitness routines as per your body needs and areas you want to work out on. However, personal training is a little more costly than the general membership of the gym. There is a little problem of space per person especially in the busy hours during morning as sometimes one has to wait for machines and their turn to workout. Parking is a concern as the gym doesn’t have its own parking space. A little perking up of the ambience plus the lighting system would be a welcome change.
